    One of my frequent refrains in the Philippines was, “I’m wait-ing…” Today, in Panama City, Florida, I’m still awaiting the arrival of a parcel that I sent to this address from George Town, Penang Island, Malaysia on August 3! Was the package lost, or stolen, or stored for a while then placed on a ‘slow boat’?

    Today Jim and Mary Cowan’s older daughter, Sister Veronica Catherine of the Pierced Heart of Jesus, and two other novice sisters, will make simple vows as Franciscan Sisters of the Renewal. They will leave emerge from two years of novitiate as they become ‘professed’ sisters. They will continue communal lives of worship and free service to the poor in the Bronx, Harlem, and wherever they may be sent to share God’s love for our materially or spiritually poor brothers and sisters.
