If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ… 1 Peter 4:11

dumb

I saw a Ford Motor Company ad on television. It said, “We speak MPGs” and “We speak RPMs.” What are MPGs? Miles Per Gallons? And what are RPMs? Revolutions Per Minutes? Dumb! The other Ford TV ads are also lame.

Speaking of dumb, on the Today Show, Ann Curry said that 90% of automobile accidents are caused by drivers. Really? Not 89 percent; not 91 percent; drivers cause exactly 90 percent of car crashes.

One of the Today Show’s tips for dealing with automobile accidents is to wait until our vehicles stop before exiting. Really? I had thought that we should try to egress while our vehicles are crashing.

Speaking of vehicles, my $4000 car was passed by a $440,000 silver Porsche Carrera GT on the Hathaway Bridge over the bay. »→

geography lesson 2

I read that Indonesia is a small country tucked away in a corner of the globe in South Asia. I thought, “Really? It’s small? It’s tucked away? The globe has corners?”

Indonesia is 3,000 miles wide, it’s not tucked away, and globes don’t have corners.

Patrick’s name to be afixed [sic] to shelter

“Go Daddy Group Inc.’s … CEO Bob Parsons announced that the Scottsdale, Ariz.-based domain name registrar would donate $500,000 to UMOM New Day Centers’ capital campaign to build a wing onto its existing downtown Phoenix facility that will be named the Danica Patrick GoDaddy.com Domestic Violence Center.”

Now that’s a mouthful.

Who will ever refer to that wing of the “existing downtown Phoenix facility” as “the Danica Patrick GoDaddy.com Domestic Violence Center?”

from Associated Press:

“Winter storm wallops East Coast

Charleston, W.Va. (AP) — A major storm moving up the Atlantic Coast … Up to a foot of snow was forecast in parts of Tennessee, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.”

I didn’t know that West Virginia, Tennessee, and Pennsylvania are on a coast. Thanks, Associated Press!
