archive of April, 2010

On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, I enjoyed touring Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum, which houses 43 Lotus cars and 1200 motorcycles. At the race track in Leeds I talked with motorcyclists who had ridden expensive, 1200cc and 1300cc German and Italian machines from several states. Modenas Kriss 100I said that in Malaysia I had ridden a 97cc motorbike like the one that Michael Schumacher had ridden the previous weekend in Sepang. Here’s a photo — more blog filler to stall for time until I resize for web-viewing, then upload, photos from Saint Petersburg and Alabama.

LinkedIn spam

For some reason (I don’t remember) I joined LinkedIn yesterday. This is what LinkedIn sent to persons listed in my e-mail account’s address list:

From: messages-noreply@bounce.linkedin.com [mailto:messages-noreply@bounce.linkedin.com] On Behalf Of Brian McKay
Sent: Monday, April 05, 2010 4:14 PM
To: Carol xxxx
Subject: Invitation to connect on LinkedIn

Brian McKay requested to add you as a connection on LinkedIn:

Carol,

I’d like to add you to my professional network on LinkedIn.

- Brian

I didn’t write that.  Apparently, LinkedIn composed, then sent, that without my knowledge, as Facebook had done months ago.  LinkedIn had only asked me if I wanted to ‘link to’ persons in my Gmail address list. Of course I said okay to that.  I didn’t expect LinkedIn to ghost-write e-mail and ‘sign’ my name!

afterlife

Today we remember that Dr. Martin Luther King was gunned-down on April 4, 1968 and that the crucified and buried Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of God, rose with God’s power to show us that divine life transcends bodily death. Remember that though our bodies may be killed, our souls, our inmost selves,  live on — with God or apart from him.
