The impact of poor sanitation, water and hygiene can have serious effects you might not expect – especially for girls. Girls are often denied their right to education because their schools lack private and decent sanitation facilities. Or they drop out of school because they are forced to spend large parts of their day fetching water for their families.

So I phoned USAA to ask what the problem is and ask why it won’t respond.

So now the total is $1565 stolen from my USAA checking account! Thank you, USAA!

I phoned USAA. I told a receptionist my problem. She said that I need to talk to someone in the check fraud department. I said okay. Then I heard insipid 1970s pop music for a minute until USAA disconnected.

I phoned USAA again.  Again I had to wade through all the voice prompts, ask for “representative” then ask a receptionist to let me talk with someone in the check fraud department.  USAA played an entire Elton John song while I waited to talk to someone.  I love to hear banks and utility companies’ recordings tell us, ‘your call is very important to us’ while they don’t want to talk to us.  Then we get to hear more Steely Dan or Billy Joel, then again, “Your call is very important to us.” If the calls were considered important, they’d not have us listen to sappy muzick.

Eventually I told someone in the check fraud-investigating department that on February 25 I saw several February 25 pending, I told USAA of them, and USAA did nothing but approve the charges. I said that on February 28 I saw February 28 charges pending, I notified USAA via its website, then USAA approved those fraudulent purchases. I complained that USAA had approved those charges, and today I saw more charges pending. The clerk apologized for USAA’s inaction and began writing a fraud report.
