KV Racing Technology announced that Ernesto Viso will race for the team in the IndyCar series. KVRT co-owner Kevin Kalkoven said, “We are delighted to welcome E. J. back for his third season with KVRT.”
Does PDVSA pay KVRT much more than the cost of Viso’s crash damage? He doesn’t win prize money, does he?
“He has shown speed in his previous two years”
(Every racer shows speed.)
“… and this year we expect many more successful finishes from him.”
Bringing cars to the finish line more often when the new chassis, replacement parts, and new engines are scarce?
“I am really happy to be back with KV Racing Technology,” Viso said.
(Who else would tolerate his frequent crashing?)
“Last year was very successful even if the results don’t necessarily reflect what we wanted.”
They were successful although they didn’t achieve results that they’d wanted?!
“We worked very hard and we proved we were competitive.”
(Yes, the team worked hard to repair cars that he crashed.)
“I want to thank all my sponsors … I look forward to rewarding them with many strong performances this season.”
(Not aiming for victories but just “strong performances?”)
Happy birthday to IndyCar racer Simona De Silvestro!
“Edmonton was always one of my favorite venues because the track was so challenging. It was so fast and very physical — the most physical of the year.
I have raced here quite a bit and have a few podiums, a few poles. But the best moment was last year when I managed to win from pole in the Firestone Indy Lights race.
It was one of the toughest drives of my entire life. I was under pressure every lap, and it was my first formula car win in Canada.” - IndyCar racer James Hinchcliffe
Congratulations to Bryan Herta Autosport and to Dan Wheldon for winning the Indy 500.
I like this nice advertising piece from Audi motorsport, telling of competing in the 24 Heuers du Mans sports car race which it has won in 9 of the past 11 years:
Newman-Haas Racing qualified a car for the front row of the Indianapolis 500 for the first time since 1993, when Mario Andretti started second. Oriol Servia was the third-fastest qualifier of today and thus will be on the front row on May 29. Scott Dixon was second-fastest, behind Alex Tagliani.
After watching racers such as Scott Dixon go from obscurity to stardom & championships, I predict that young guns James Hinchcliffe and J.R Hildebrand will be stars.
IndyCar racer Simona De Silvestro‘s car broke in turn 3 of Indianapolis Motor Speedway. She was airborne, hit the turn 3 wall, landed, went airborne again, hit turn 4, landed, and skidded to a halt inverted and aflame. This is the second time in two seasons that the Swiss Miss has been burned in a fire after a speedway crash. Click here for a YouTude video. »→
